My Guitar Gallery !!!

In this post, I will talk about all the guitars I've played and owned since I first picked up guitar :D

Let's first talk about the guitar I'm currently using.
Ibanez Semi-Hollow Korean Artstar model
Here is an image of me & my guitar :D :D

This guitar has only a 3-way switch (much lesser than my Fender hehe) but it is sufficient. I personally love the tone this guitar is capable of. I use .011s flat wounds strings on this guitar as well, so the tone is thick + thick, just nice for jazz in my opinion :D

This is a most recent guitar video of mine whereby I used this guitar :D I did a guitar cover of The Chicken by Jaco Pastorius !! <3 <3 And shot this video in Sentosa beach hehe.

So, for the entire set of updated photos of me and this Ibanez at the beach, check out this post:
The Chicken (Jaco Pastorius) Music Video: Sapphire Love Guitar Cover (VIDEOS & PHOTOS)

Well I used this guitar too for one of my performances at school. See that music note logo at the back ? Hahaha. It's International College Of Music (ICOM).
For this show, I used my BOSS GT-100 Multi-Effects Pedal as well :D And this is me playing a funk jazz tune "Pick Up the Pieces" by The Average White Band/Candy Dulfer:

Prior to using this Ibanez of mine, I used a Fender Custom Shop, courtesy of Fender famed-masterbuilder Jay Black.
Here is a photo of me with my Fender <3

This guitar has a flamed maple neck, that looks really gorgeous to many people (they told me *winks*). I've had many guitarists in my school try this Fender of mine, but many reflected back to me the same thing: They thought that the neck really was too thick for their comfort !

Well, if you ask me, I never noticed or felt that the neck was particularly thick or not, it worked fine for me.

Another issue for this guitar is that it has a lacquered neck, and I admit it actually makes playing so much harder compared to rosewood finishes fretboards. According to guitar techs, the lacquered neck really gives much more friction and thus slows down playing & essentially makes it harder as well.

I personally experienced it as I practiced something on my Fender one day, and then transitioned immediately to the Ibanez the next day, and it was much much easier to play the same thing on my Ibanez hahahah ! Although I would really prefer the Fender for rhythms and chords, simply because the tension is much lower than my Ibanez. For that matter, I have a harder time holding my barre chords on my Ibanez compared to my Fender. In fact it is really more effortless on my Fender :D :D

Check out this video of me playing funk rhythms on my Fender whereby my right hand is kept constant strumming ALMOST every 16th note throughout hahah !

When I bought it, this guitar came with .009s. Well I stuck with that string gauge for a while and eventually moved to .011s. The tone is also noticeably but subtly thicker after I changed the gauge higher.

However for the video above, I had actually previously set my BOSS GT-100 tone settings in accordance with a Roland amp I have at home, but for the recording of the video I had to do with a makeshift amp instead ! & the mini amp is definitely much more trebly making my wah-wahs and phaser sound so much sharper than normal. Well, I tried to compensate it by switching my pickup to the neck instead and lowering down the treble knob in the EQ. I guess it worked a bit hahahah, but with the time constrains I didn't manage to do any major adjustments to my tone.

Oh yeah, I would photograph the "Jay Black" logo of this guitar and post it here too once I get my hands on it so that you guys can have a look at how master builder Jay Black leaves his name (or logo, for that matter) on a guitar he personally builds.

This is a 60s Fender if I'm not wrong, well, I have to go and recheck my facts first hahahah !!

A few more images of my Custom Shop Fender :D :D

Here is a picture of me performing on stage with this Fender:

For that night, we played a waltz tune "Alice In Wonderland" and a bossa nova tune "Blue Bossa", both right from the Real Book !! Well, I played rhythm and had a solo for both tunes.

Ok next is my Stevie Ray Vaughan Lenny guitar.

This is my favorite picture of myself with my guitar. The SRV logo on the guitar ain't that clear in this picture though.

Ok, I shall show you a couple more :D :D

Have a clearer look at the guitar now ? Hehehe
Well, this guitar is actually a knock-off of the original SRV model guitar.
When I played this guitar sometime back I was a big fan of Stevie Ray and his Blues licks and phrases. I played much more blues then, I play less blues now.

Ok, now onto a really beautiful guitar that I fell in love to at first sight.

Here is another image of it, though the red is obscured here.

Check out the fretboard of the neck of this guitar:

Well, talking about beautiful fretboards. This guitar has both sides of the world.
This is a birdseye + flamed maple neck ! How rare is it to find it, but to explain its existence, it is custom ordered and made, and possibly discontinued already today due to the rarity of the wood. Normally when I see a birdseye maple neck, it typically would have sparse 'birdseye' scattered over it, one here, two there. Well, for this guitar of mine, the birdseye is literally exploding, the whole fretboard is filled to the brim with birdseye, not to mention it is also a flamed maple neck all at the same time !!

For music purposes though, it may not work that fine. It has the looks but not necessary the build and wood for good sound. I would play this guitar for fun surely, but not for performances.

Ok, onto my sacrificial guitar that got plunged into the water. Hahahah. This Harlem was my first guitar when I first picked up the instrument.

Let's see pictures of this guitar IN WATER !!!! Hahahah. Wow, how evil-ly excited am I.

Ok, that's all for now about my journey with my guitars :D
I will post more updates on my guitars when more cool & interesting things happen, either things I have to take into account for for my tone, or pickups, or even my guitar body wood !

Hope you enjoyed this recount of mine.

Do you want to sit like a diva at your first date ? Or do you want to learn how to channel the renaissance woman feel to deter your bullies from coming near you ? Or do you want to fire up the protective mechanism in your mom to convince her to get you your favorite toy by getting into a kiddish pose ? Well, you will be able to find tips in this post that teach you what to take note if you want to channel a certain feel.

Feel covered include Princess, Diva, Renaissance Woman, Spoilt Rich Girl, Sophisticate, Cool & Classy,Attitude, Sporty & Athletic, Boho & Carefree, Sensual, Stealth, Kiddish and much more !!

For models who want to further improve their sitting poses, this is for you. Just take note of the explanation of the feel for the respective categories, and you'll really be more aware of the many different ways you can manipulate your sitting poses & would able to switch between feels in no time !

For any other girl (or guy) who wants to infuse fun and acting into your everyday life, to show your family or significant other your ability to change persona real quick, or even to build a magnetic body language, here it is !

Hope you guys have tons of fun :D :D

There is something really self-assured of the model who poses like a princess. Poses under this category conveys immense confidence & a feeling that the girl is unbeatable by circumstances.

Diva poses are a combination of a more innocent princess quality with a more matured womanly feel, plus a hint of daintiness. The diva feel can be attained by feeling like you know your worth and status that can't be taken away from you easily.

Renaissance Woman

A model who wants to channel this feel in her sitting poses has to feel like she is independent and is a woman of ability. She has to feel like the entire world is under her control, and as such would be able to convey the power and formidability in her poses. Her arms must have the task of doing something, either stretching it out confidently to place on surrounding architecture or putting them together to form strong images/shapes.

Spoilt Rich Girl

Well, to channel this feel, you have to feel a bit mischievous inside you and know that rules aren't a thing for you. You certainly don't have to follow the rules like how the masses do it, because you are different from them, you are, well, rich. So, put on a tinge of naughtiness and haughtiness into your eyes and there you have it. Also, another tip is that you could raise your leg up and rest it on a table no matter how inappropriate it may be (especially if you are wearing a skirt).

Being conservative is the key. A sophisticate doesn't cross the lines like the spoilt rich girl. In fact, she knows her boundaries and works within it. She makes sure she always channel a sense of refinement and appropriateness. Her fingers, whenever it is exposed to public view, she will make sure that her fingers are equally spread apart and elegant and consistent - no room for error or imperfection.

Cool & Classy

You must have a more neutral mood in order to pull this off. This can be hard to pull off for the hyperactive girl, as she may have difficulties calming her facial expressions down. A cool & classy woman keeps a certain distance between herself and others, and there's something nonchalant about her. She is capable and she knows it, she doesn't need to proclaim it to the world by being loud & exaggerated. This feel represents a confidence that is held mostly internal.

Strong eyes are the key to this feel, and it tells others "Don't mess with me, you have absolutely no idea what I can do".

It is not in your concern to do what status quo demands or what societal expectations dictate. You may not be particularly warm to anyone who approaches you and it doesn't bother you. You know you are different and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. This feel is also achieved by having wide stances that shows that you are not afraid to take up more space. You know your worth & you won't need anyone else's assurances.

For this feel, have wide stances. Your legs should be placed in a careless manner, don't worry if they don't look gracious or feminine, that's not the aim anyway :D Emulate how men do it, & channel masculinity into your arms and legs.

Sporty & Athletic

For this feel, it is totally alright to have your legs up, there is no need to think about appropriateness. Fitness here is king. If putting one leg up and perching it on the edge of a table or rock slab shows off your toned muscles, go ahead and do it. Another way could be to stretch your arms or tense them up to show off your arm muscles.

Boho & Carefree

Don't put so much thought into portraying this feel, because it is supposed to be carefree, and YOU are supposed to be carefree. Empty your mind of stress and problems, and allow your entire body to relax. The 'carefree' poses should come naturally. Remember not to try too hard, otherwise you may be forcing it & as a result it will look far from carefree.

Ok, here are the 11 categories for my first installment of this series. Keep checking back on my blog for the next installment and other interesting posts ! :D :D

Let me know how did you find this post, whether it was helpful or are there any other ways that you would recommend for me to make things more fun !! Hope to hear from you :D

Three Cheers To A More Extraordinary You

-Do something today that others won’t & aren’t willing to do, so that tomorrow you can do what others can’t do.

-Understand that opportunities are created by your own hands & doesn’t come by waiting.

-Circumstances should not determine what you can do for your dreams.

-Actions will change your life, waiting doesn’t.

-Your past won’t affect your present unless you let it to.

-Always believe in yourself to have the ability to recapture your ground, because losing your job is only devastating if you do not have the talent and ability to find a new one; losing an opportunity is only devastating if you lack the talent to be offered a next chance; losing a game is only devastating if you do not possess real talent to help you win the next game.

-Accept yourself as you are. It allows you to have the courage to use your strengths and to overcome your weaknesses.

-Believe in yourself, when everyone else doubts you & believe in your ability when nobody else gives you the recognition

-Know that the opposite of courage is fear, & when you do not have the courage to pursue & live your dreams, you are actually living your fears.

- “Impossible" really ain't a word that is possible in the minds of truly strong people.

-Learn to be immune to other people's judgment of you because no matter what you do, there is bound to be someone who disagrees with what you are doing.

-Remove the "what-if's" and "should-have's" in your mind and you will be free from being a slave to your past.

Hope this inspires you to be a better & more extraordinary version of yourself ! *wink wink* :D :D

Love you guys,

Sapphire Ng's Guide to Coco Rocha 1: Poses [11 Categories]

Hello there ! :)

This guide reflects how I approach analyzing & breaking down Coco Rocha's poses.
Hope you guys find it easier to dissect what she does by looking at my categorization !! :D :D Good luck & Have fun !

Coco seriously has a knack for tiptoe-ing in photos. I have yet to see another established supermodel doing the same. Tiptoe-ing really allows a model to discover a whole new system of poses, simply because she is no longer limited to the typical 2 legs on ground or 1 leg up sort of poses. Because of the leg positions, the feel is different as well, and there really is a combination of a down-to-earth but sophisticated feel at the same time.

This posing technique takes some practice girls, not everyone can naturally tiptoe in 5 inch wedges with their feet relatively close together (it will definitely be harder to balance) and with feet pointing in the same direction. Start with a shorter heel first and work your way up :D

Coco Rocha seems to be a fan of suspended shots as well as it will look more surreal and out of the world. Also, art-wise it would be so much more refreshing to see in-the-air shots rather than the typical "yes, I'm on the ground" shots. It is uncommon and because of this reason, it really is that much more unique.

Ok now, we all know Coco loves dancing, but we all should also know that it is a great challenge as well to transfer dance motions into posing. Coco's ability to incorporate influences from dance into her poses is really admirable because there have been dancers who tried but stumbled.

There have been dancers who momentarily went into modeling, but every pose they churned out in front of the camera has no regard to the theme of the shoot at all or the outfit of shoot. All they did in front of the camera was dance routine practices they had to practice on their ballet bars.

And the photos looked like the photographer hired a ballet dancer in order to shoot a ballet-dancing theme RATHER THAN a model who was hired to pose in a manner that is reminiscent of a dancer but also infusing emotions & other elements inside, and definitely understanding the fact that her job would be to create art works with her body.

Motions/On The Move

Talking about wanting to express the hectic-ness of working life in pictures, the urgency and rush everyday people experience day to day, or simply the down-to-earth manner of people who are fiercely focused on their daily activities. There is no exception as well expressing these in high fashion, even though high fashion seems to be so detached from everyday reality. So, if you want to add a little practicality into your poses, here you go, give a little sideways walk or run in your photo-shoots :D :D

Avantgarde is really something that is done for art-sake. The only criteria is creativity. So anything really alien or out of the ordinary really works in this category. The goal can even be to look as weird and unnatural as possible !

The beauty of the avant-garde is that there really is no limits or rules, and the only crime would be being mundane and ordinary. So, for this type of poses, you really got to use up some of your brain power to think of inventive shapes, and unusual angles/twists.

Well, the exotic is more real than the avant-garde. While avant-garde is the alien from outer space, exotic would be the human who wants to have a unique, tribal touch to her. Talking about wrists that are bent in the opposite direction to each other, or elbows that are held up at 60 degrees, it kinds of reminds us of Indian dancing?

Geometrical Shapes

Wow, geometrical shapes is another really exciting one ! The idea is if you can bend your body into a certain shape, by all means do it. Your legs could do a square, or your entire body could bend backwards like Coco in the photo on the left to form half a hexagon. Or you could give a side profile like the 2nd photo below and have 4 bends in total formed to have your body reminiscent of a zig-zagging thunder ! Wow !! How inventive is this ? hahaha :D :D

Posing like a mannequin or puppet would require one to make her hands or limbs unnatural, inorganic and definitely in a way that defies what is called real in life.

See the unnaturally straight legs in the first photo whereby her legs are actually not parallel to the ground ? Because it it tilted, the feel of the puppet is even more poignant. In the 3rd photo, an outstanding thing would be that the ankle of the left foot is unnaturally pointed up.

When it comes to Coco's elegant looks, oh my gosh, I can't help but fall in love with her elegance and sophistication. Coco's portrayal of elegance is totally unrivaled. The perfection of the vibe - soft & magnetic - is totally indescribable.

One thing about Coco is she really does anything & everything !! Many models definitely are not even willing or dare to do what she just did. Have we ever seen a spiderman model in town who climbs the brick walls of buildings? Hahaha, I don't think so.

Come on guys, do you see the humor in the photo below? Well, I love it a lot personally hahaha. Why? It is because Coco is posing as if she is a lamp post or that she looks like one !! One day, we models should just try posing as if we are cars, trees, tables or even the fire extinguisher. Ok, maybe I should try just that hahaha !! :D :D

Ok, so this wraps up the 11 categories for this series. Keep following my blog to catch the next series :D :D
Help me spread the word of my blog, I would really appreciate it. Thank you hahaha !
